Where are we now??

Lots of new info for us. We are now living in Kansas, yes Kansas. And yes it is windy! And in the middle of no where! Megan is excelling in her Freshman year of High School. Jacob is having a teenage boy crisis, he is miserable here. Not really a shocker is it?? For those who know Jake, pretty typical for him. We have a new addition!! A Chihuahua named Lucy We are waiting(somewhat patiently) for another new addition, this time only 2 legs!!! WE have finally finished our foster care classes and hope to soon move to the next step of having kids in our house!!

HELLO...Again

Hi. I am trying to get into this habit of writing and I really stink. Every time I get the hang of this site, it changes or worse yet, I get a new computer. So here I am. Let's see what happens??

Limbo

I am in the state of Limbo...waiting waiting waiting. I am making inquiries to foster care agencies across the US. I am at their mercy. The social workers sort through the homestuides they recieve and are only required to call you if they consider you for a potential match. So I could be waiting forever hoping to hear, when in fact the children I inquired about could be unavailable. So I search, inquire, send info and wait. This is way worse than a pregnancy and could be longer too. But the excitment is still there along with an element of "surprise" for we truly do not know when the big day will arrive. And to add to that, we don't know ages or sex or number!! We are approved up to a sibling group of 3!!
Most days I am eager and dedicated, searching photolists, scanning through each state, checking email to see if there are any responses. Then they are days I just have to move on, do something else think about the kids who are here, waiting patiently with me. Those are the days a new profile seems to appear, out of nowhere, and then I inquire and start the whole process over again. It seems as if the same children are left in foster care for many years and it is heartbreaking to look at their faces. I wish I could give them all a home. Even in the foster/adoption world, healthly children are sought after and usually have many, many inquiries. I am willing to take on some health, emotional and developmental delays, but not sure I can handle the severe range. So I wait and pray and pray some more and ask you to pray with me so God may find us the additions to our family we are meant to have.
Until then, my family is headed to PA for Easter and preparing to say Goodbye to Daddy for a year.
Many Blessing to you this Easter Season.

Still waiting...and searching

So, we are APPROVED! offical and all. Now the real waiting begins. I search for faces on the computer screen, will any of these fit my family? The good news is there are new kids added daily, how sad. We are approved for a sibling group up to 3kids ages 4-12.
There are various websites to search, ones that cover a certain area and one for each state.
I have recently found on a certain site www.adoptuskids.com that we could adopt from Guam, Puerto Rico and or the Vigin Islands. This really appeals to me. I love different cultures and could really be a part of including a new culture into our blended family. Interesting info. So I "joined" the site, now that I am officaly approved and am anxious to see what I will find!
Pray with me that our family will be complete sometime in the near future.
Other than that, life just keeps going. School, SVO, Dwight in the field, Lent is upon and an upcoming trip home to PA. Fun times!
Will check in again soon!

One step closer...

Today was our second homestudy visit. It went very very well. I expect our approval within the week. That means we can send out our approved study to all the state agencies and start looking for a child/sibling group. We have a few that we have picked from online photolistings. I am getting super excited.

The rest of us are still living our crazy, busy life. Megan and Jake are really doing well at St Ann's. They have found a comfy spot there in this small Catholic School. Both made honor roll this semester. WOW! They are also happily awaiting some siblings.

Dwight will be headed to Korea in June. I hope we can get the kids placed before he leaves, but if not, I will hoope to look again in the Fall to have them when he returns.

We are all well enjoying our nice big house and our time here in Fayetteville.
I will check back in soon with more news.

Adoption Journey

So we have been away from this site for quite awhile. I am trying to get back into it and quickly. We had a great year in Fayetteville and made a trip to Disney in the summer and Universal at Christmas time. A visit from Katherine this summer and an East Coast road trip rounded out our travels.
This proves to be an exciting year. Dwight is going to Korea and we have decided to adopt from the foster care system. Some nights I am so excited I can't wait and other times I really think, am I crazy? But I feel like we have room in our family and this seems like the right way and the right time. I am hoping to have a child/children home by Christmas but if not, I will wait(unpatiently) until Dwight gets home in the summer. I am really not sure I will make it that long, I search over and over again on the adoption photolistings on the internet. I'm planning on who there godparents will be and have beds ready for them to sleep in. I know it may be a rough road but I am so up for the challenge and I think the rest of us are too. So here on 1/23/12, we have one visit down and all paperwork submitted, visit #2 this Sunday 1/29/12. Onward...
We already had one milestone this year: Megan turned 13!, a teenager, a young woman look out world!
Another milestone is soon to be upon us...I will be the big 40! oh yes, enough said...
ok bye for now a few pics from the previous year will follow.
